Get to know me

Hey! Misty here!

I am a North Dakota native who appreciates conveying emotion mostly through photography & writing. The name MizArt  was established during my college graphic design class. Growing up- my Auntie called me Mizzi and I'm in love with art, so I decided the name I could "hide behind" could be MizArt  (or MizArt Studios).  

For over 20 years, photography has become an integral part of who I am. I strive to capture the unique textures and emotions of the people and places around me. When I work with my images, I’m always trying to remain aware if or how it’s affecting my perception of that object, place, or idea. I try to decide—do I want to share this piece of my experience with others and how do I narrate my story through subject, color, light, or thoughts and feelings? My goal is to continue sharing my experiences of this world and take in its essence to learn to become a better person.

I’ve also found that writing gives me a sense of being in control of emotions I’m processing- whether they are my own or while I’m journeying through someone else’s world.

I've always said- LIFE IS ART. Every bit of the world around us, how we take it in, and what we do with what we learn is such a personal experience; I appreciate how life has its moments- its ebbs and flows. We should all take quiet moments of reflection for ourselves to appreciate it.
